—Workshop spaces in which visitors can gain hands-on experience of glazing and glass-painting, or experience the work of other professional artists and craftspeople demonstrating and sharing the methods, skills and traditions of their crafts. Formal workshops will often be based on real projects and commissions, and will involve students, placement workers or apprentices. The emphasis will be on live engagement with the work in hand. —A permanent display illustrating the art, craft, techniques and technology of glass, designed to engage teachers and pupils, and to stimulate the general public, students and artists alike.

—A gallery space and exhibition area for displays of contemporary and historic work in glass, and in many other building-related crafts.

—A fully-equipped auditorium/lecture theatre with black-out, tiered seating and state-of-the-art projection technology.

—A research centre to act as a portal to international electronic resources, with links to the University of York (home of the country's largest collection of books on stained glass and magnificent conservation collections), the Corpus Vitrearum, the Courtauld Institute and other major archives and collections.
